Low-Sodium Recipes Recipes
USDA guidelines and the American Heart Association recommend a limit of 2400 mg per day of sodium for normal healthy adults, and less than 1500 mg per day for older Americans, African Americans and people with hypertension or salt sensitivity. The easiest way to control salt intake is to do your own cooking. These recipes, and our flavorful salt-free seasonings are a great way to reduce sodium in your diet.
Many of the recipes listed below call for ingredients - such as stock, sour cream, canned tomatoes etc. - that can range from salt-free to extremely high in sodium. When making a low-salt dish be sure to choose a low-sodium version of these ingredients. Omit salt when it's listed as "Salt to taste".
