Orange Cranberry Compote Notes
I developed this recipe which is based on basic homemade cranberry sauce. The orange flower water is the secret ingredient, adding a distinctive floral scent to the dish.
Ingredients
- 12 ounce bag fresh cranberries
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- zest and juice of one orange
- up to 1 cup bottled orange juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons orange flower water
- 2 teaspoons Coitreau or Grand Marnier liqueur
Serves / Yields
4-6
Preparation Instructions
Rinse and pick over the cranberries. Add just enough bottled orange juice to the fresh juice to yield 1 cup of liquid. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stir to dissolve sugar, reduce heat and simmer uncovered, for 10 min. or until thickened. Transfer to a dish, and cool to room temperature, uncovered. Cover and refrigerate overnight
Helpful Hints
WIll keep up to one week in the refrigerator, covered.
