This our family's Irish Bread recipe. It is not the soda bread that is usually served at St. Patrick's Day affairs. (We're snobby and say we don't like soda bread!)
May the blessings of the old and new traditions be yours, whenever you enjoy this bread!
1 large oval or rounded bread
Preheat the oven to 350-375 degrees. Grease the pan and dust with flour.
Beat all wet ingredients together.
Add to the dry ingredients and mix well.
Bake for 35 minutes, until golden brown. Take out of the oven and let stand for 20 minutes. Cover with a cloth towel to "set" the crust. Place on a rack or board, cut and serve.
This recipe can be doubled if you wish.
You can bake this bread in a wrought iron frying pan or a metal roasting pan.
Serve with real butter.
