Strawberry Pie Recipe

Strawberry Pie Notes

This is the original recipe handed down from my mother, but I find it overly sweet. You can cut the sugar down to ¾ cup, or even ½ cup if your strawberries are really sweet. This dessert is so quick and delicious you'll make it every year during strawberry season!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 Tablespoons strawberry jello
  • 1 cup water
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 baked 9" deep-dish pie shell
  • 2 teaspoons Old Town Spiced Sugar
  • Fresh strawberries, enough to fill the crust

Serves / Yields

Preparation Instructions

Sprinkle Chicago Old Town Spiced Sugar on the crust before baking. Bake and cool pie crust. Store-bought frozen pie crusts work well, if you don’t have time to make it from scratch.

Clean and cut strawberries while the pie crust cools. Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt and water in saucepot. Bring to boil and add jello. Stir and boil until thickened. Cool and pour over berries in crust. Chill. Serve with whipped cream.
