Tweetie's Italian Mozzarella Sticks Notes

Who doesn't like a Fried Mozzarella Stick. This is a kicked up version.

  • 12 pieces Mozzarella String Cheese
  • 12 pieces Egg Roll Wrappers
  • 4 pieces Mozzarella String Cheese
  • 12 pieces wonton wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons dried basil
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked Spanish paprika, hot
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • cornstarch
  • kosher salt

This recipe serves 4. You can make side dish servings, or appetizers. It can easily be doubled or even tripled

Preparation Instructions

For appetizer size, cut cheese into 3rds. Place, basil, Parmesan cheese, paprika and garlic on a large flat plate. Mix them together. Roll the cheese in this mixture. Dust a worksurface lightly with cornstarch. Place the wrappers in front of you on worksurface so a point is facing you. Place cheese on thee bottom 1/3rd of the wrapper, roll a little, tuck in the sides, continue to roll. Seal the roll with a little water on your finger and place them on a cornstarch coated tray. Heat oil to 350 degrees and fry rolls, till golden brown. turning them over at least once. Remove to absorbent paper and sprinkle with salt. Serve hot with my Doctored- Up Tomato Sauce.

Helpful Hints

Don't let the oil get too hot or your cheeses will leak out.

Wrappers can be found in the Produce Dept. of most grocery stores.
