Cookie Lover's Gift Box

What brings more joy to a household than sitting down to enjoy a snack of fresh-out-of-the-oven cookies and an icy cold glass of milk? This box has four fun spices which are great for imaginative cookie baking. Be sure to try them in all sorts of other things too. Some baking can be very complicated, but cookies are normally fairly quick, easy and delicious. Don't forget that kids LOVE to help! Visit the recipe section of our website for lots of our customers' cookie recipes.

The four products included in this box are:

Madagascar Double-Strenth Vanilla Extract--Also known as "Baker's Twofold Vanilla," this vanilla extract is made from 200 (rather than the usual 100) vanilla beans to the gallon. It's so strong you only need to use half of what the recipe calls for. However, if you are a lover of vanilla flavor, you can use the full amount for richer flavor.

Chicago Old Town Spiced Sugar--We make this premium sugar by hand. After we make the vanilla sugar in our shop, we add freshly ground China cassia cinnamon and a hint of ground caramom. Say "Hello!" to spectacular sugar cookies, when you sprinkle some of this on top.

Cacao Nibs--Unlike chocolate chips, which have sugar, these are simply the cleaned, roasted, winnowed and lightly crushed cacao beans. Their taste is nicely bittersweet, with the crunch and toasty flavor of nuts. Add them to all sorts of baked goods. Also good for savory sauces, moles, chillies, and salads.

Ginger Nibs, Crystallized--These are young slices of gingerroot cooked in a cane sugar syrup. In addition to being a digestive aid, they have been eaten as candy since the time of Marco Polo. These nibs are nicely uniform in size, at 1/4 inch, which makes them ideal for baking and decoration.

I don't think a really good pie can be made without a dozen or so children peeking over your shoulder as you stoop to look in on it every little while.
