Coarse Himalayan Pink Salt

Mined in the foothills of the world’s highest mountains, this prehistoric salt is what remains of a seabed formed more than 100 million years ago. Its mild sweetness and delicate color complement chocolate and marinades.

Details

When the Indian Subcontinent crashed into Asia, the force not only created the Himalayan Mountains but also exposed previously buried salt deposits from an ancient sea. Eons later, that salt is being mined from the foothills of the Himalayas. The pale pink color comes from traces of iron oxide, which gives the salt a subtly sweet flavor. The color and mineral content make this salt a popular choice in many recipes.
