In the late summer and early autumn, you will see porcini mushrooms hung from the ceiling in rustic kitchens across southern Europe. In this blend, these nutty dried mushrooms are ground into a powder, then mixed with fine Portuguese sea salt to create the next best thing to truffle salt. Porcini mushrooms have been revered since Roman times for their complex flavor. Nutty and woodsy, with an earthiness that is reminiscent of truffles, this salt is great for pastas, charcuterie plates, cream sauces and vegetables. To make this blend, we use Portuguese Salt Cream, the highest quality sea salt skimmed from the surface of the drying pile. We then infuse this pure and elegant base with ground porcini mushrooms. So delicious!

When I ordered this, I didn't know what to expect. I love mushrooms so I decided to give it a shot. It may be my favorite salt I've ever tasted! It really tastes like porcini mushrooms and adds to much to many dishes. I've had it in many things, but I can't wait until I get around to making my mushroom risotto. I just know it will add another depth of flavor!
