Pickling Blend of Whole Spices

This balanced blend of sweet and savory whole spices is perfect for homemade pickles. Use to make a delicious brine for any pickled vegetable from cucumbers to beets.

We use our sweetest cracked cassia bark, lots of sweet cloves and allspice berries, and some hand-broken star anise, to add a warm sweetness to the pickling spice mix. Pepper, mustard seeds, dill seeds, and juniper add a savory tang. Use 2 teaspoons per quart jar for pickles. While great for cucumbers, this spice blend can be used for other vegetables, such as onions, beets, green beans, or even pickled eggs. Whenever we parboil ribs, we throw 3-4 tablespoons whole mixed pickling spice into the water.

Hand mixed from: yellow and brown mustard seeds, cassia, allspice, cloves, cracked bay leaves, dill seeds, cracked ginger, Tellicherry peppercorns, star anise, coriander seeds, mace, juniper berries, red chile peppers, cardamom seeds.
