The Aleppo chili pepper, also called Halaby or Turkish pepper, has a salty flavor with subtle notes of raisin, pomogranate and even sun-dried tomato. Though this pepper originates in the Syrian town of Aleppo, today we source it from a Turkish region just south of Aleppo. Use this chili pepper anywhere you would use the crushed red chili flake; add it to pasta, pizza, chili or anywhere you want to add a flavorful mild heat. These chiles average around 10,000 Scoville heat units. This chile pepper is cured with salt.
