Egyptian Basil

Basil and basilisk share etymology and a story: basileus in ancient Greek means king. Romans believed the king of herbs was an antidote to venom of the serpent king, the basilisk. (Hard to disprove...the beast is imaginary!) Subtler than Californian basil, Egyptian Basil lends a note of aniseed to Mediterranean dishes. It integrates well with most other warm-climate herbs. Also available in Sweet California Basil, or Organically Sourced Basil.

European basil is lighter and more subtle than our California basil, with a sweet flavor and noticeable anise overtones. Its lighter quality helps it to blend well into complex flavor combinations, which makes it a great dried basil that will support other flavor notes. Ingredients: Basil.
