Lynn's Chinese Style Spareribs Recipe

  • 2 tablespoons Peanut Oil or Olive Oil
  • 1 clove Garlic, chopped
  • 1 1/2 pounds Samll Baby Back Pork Ribs (halved if desired)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chinese 5 Spice Powder
  • 3 tablespoons Brown Sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 tablespoons Dark Soy Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Chinese Rice Vinegar or Dry Sherry
  • enough to cover pork Hot Water

Preparation Instructions

Have all ingredients ready. In large, heavy skillet, heat oil until it begins to smoke. Add garlic and saute. Add ribs and saute until nicely browned. Remove and discard any excess oil. Sprinkle five-spice powder and toss in pan. Add sugar, soy sauce and rice vinegar. Stir and add enough hot water to cover pork. Cover skillet and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 40-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
After 35 minutes, make sure sauced is thickening and covering meat. If not thickening, remove cover and cook until sauce thickens and reduces, 10-20 minutes.

Yield: 2-3 servings

Szechuan Rare Roast Beef MiniKebabs
11)2 lb 1 inch thick slices of rare deli roast beef trim to a large rectangle. Cut into
Fingersized strips then into chunks 1 inch sauare
1/2cup Japanese soy sauce
2 tblsp toasted sesame oil
3 tblsp dark brown sugar
2 tsp toasted Szechuan peppercorns
Lightly toasted . And coarsly crushed
I large can pineapple chunks drained
( reserve half of juice)
Mix all ingredients except beef and
Reserved pineapple juice in a non reactivate bowl.
2 marinate 2 to 4 hours
3 drain reserved marinade into a small saucepan. Add remaining juice
4 boil.and reduce i2 thirds till thick
Add all pineapple chunks
5:Broil pineapple till browned slightly
6 thread beef chunks and pineapple
on to small hibachi skewers
Can be arranged in concentric circles
On a large halved naval orange
8 to 10 with other appetizer z
