Sweet 'n Tart Cardamom Martini

The rosemary in the shaker will bruise and release its flavor into the drink. Save a pretty one for garnish!

Sweet 'n Tart Cardamom Martini Recipe

  • For the syrup:
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 24 Green Cardamom Pods
  • 4 tablespoons fresh sliced ginger
  • For the cocktail
  • 2 ounces gin, botanical preferred
  • 2-4 ounces cardamom ginger simple syrup
  • 1 oz vermouth
  • 1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 dashes angostura bitters
  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • 1 slice crystalized ginger

Preparation Instructions

To make the simple syrup:

Combine water and sugar in a pot medium-high heat. Stir until dissolved and bring to a boil.

Lower heat to a simmer, add cardamom and ginger. Stir and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Let cool.

To fashion the cocktail:

In a cocktail shaker combine gin, vermouth, fresh lemon juice, cardamom simple syrup, a rosemary sprig, and bitters.

Shake well with ice, and strain into a martini glass.

Garnish with rosemary and a slice of crystalizes ginger.

Helpful Hints

Adjust the amount of syrup in the cocktail recipe to your liking. For a sweeter cocktail, use 4 ounces of cardamom syrup. For a more tart cocktail, use 2 ounces cardamom syrup.
