The Spice House carries a small line of select, organically sourced spices and herbs for sale.
It's always been our goal to carry spices with the best possible
flavor, and for a long time that hasn't included organic spices. Most
of the spices we buy are grown with organic practices but without
certification, and we've worked to build relationships with our
growers over 50 years in business. But with an increase in consumer
interest in organic, sustainable agriculture, more spice growers are
adhering to certifiable organic standards. We have found a limited number of organic spices and herbs which meet our high standards for flavor and quality.
What does "organically sourced" mean?
These spices are produced in full accordance to organic standards but cannot bear a certified organic label. Our organically sourced products have been cultivated and cleaned according to organic standards. Once The Spice House receives these products and opens the original packaging, we can no longer display the organic appellation as per the USDA's labeling regulations.
