Bouquet Garni, in this form, is referred to as "Hunter's Style," because it is slightly stronger in flavor than the traditional blend.
Literally meaning a bouquet for garnish, this mixture of basil, marjoram, rosemary, summer savory, thyme, tarragon, Greek oregano, Dalmatian sage and dill weed is strong enough to stand up to slow simmering dishes such as beef stew, chicken soup, poaching stock for fish, or roast chicken or venison.
To eat figs off the tree in the very early morning, when they have been barely touched by the sun, is one of the exquisite pleasures of the Mediterranean.
