Bronzeville Rib Rub is known as Galena Street Rib Rub in our original Milwaukee Spice House location. To this day, we honestly feel that this is the best dry spice rub for ribs you will ever find.
In the 20's, 30's, and 40's, Bronzeville was a vibrant Chicago community with a diverse mix of African-Americans from all occupational backgrounds: lawyers, teachers, civic leaders, doctors, and common working men and women. 47th street was the magnificent mile of Chicago's black community. The Regal Theater and the Savoy Ballroom were very popular at 47th and Parkway. Many of the residents were transplanted Southerners who continued to cook their special family versions of Southern-style baby back ribs. Use 1 tsp. per pound of meat; shake on before cooking, and again at the end, to replace any of the seasoning that may have been cooked off. In addition to being great for ribs, Bronzeville rib rub is very good on pork roasts, chops, chicken, and duck. To make a spicy barbecue sauce, mix 1 Tblsp. seasoning per 1 cup ketchup or tomato sauce. Hand mixed from: Kosher salt, sugar, black pepper, paprika, nutmeg, sage, and crushed peppers.
Good coffee should be black like the devil, hot like hell, and sweet like a kiss.
