Salad Seasonings Gift Box
Salad & Vegetable Lover's Gift Box
Our Salad and Vegetable Lover's Gift Box was designed with many of us trying to focus a little more on healthful eating. This box is designed to bring more flavor to salads and vegetables without adding a lot of fat or calories. Spices are a fabulous and healthy flavor enhancer.
This box includes two dressing bases and two salad sprinkles. The fat content of the dressings is totally up to you. Your supporting ingredients may include low fat sour cream or yogurt, or, if the fat content does not matter, you can use something as decadent as sour cream mixed with whipping cream! Your box includes:
BUTTERMILK DRESSING BASE Today, ranch-style dressing is a popular choice for salads. You'll be surprised how much better it tastes when you mix it up yourself. This also allows you to be preservative free, and control both the fat and calorie content. For two cups of dressing, mix 1-2 tablespoons seasoning with 1 cup buttermilk and 2 cup mayonnaise; for a lower-calorie version, just substitute low-fat mayonnaise or low-fat sour cream. Try sprinkling it on cooked vegetables. We particularly like it on diced potatoes (when they are baked around roast chicken). Hand mixed from: Salt, granulated garlic, onion, Tellicherry black pepper, minced green onion, red and green bell pepper bits.
ITALIAN DRESSING BASE For standard dressing, mix 1 tablespoon spice with 2/3 cup oil and 1/3 cup vinegar. For a sharper dressing, use half vinegar and half oil. Or, make a great creamy Italian dressing by mixing 2 tablespoons dressing base with 1/2 cup sour cream or yogurt and 1/2 cup mayonnaise, thinning with a bit of vinegar until it reaches your preferred consistency. Hand mixed from: Coarse flake salt, sugar, minced garlic, Greek oregano, onion powder, minced red bell peppers, basil, marjoram, rosemary and thyme.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN SEASONING Powdered green bell peppers and delicate purple shallots enhance the versatility of this flavorful Parmesan cheese blend. It's great in pasta salads, garden salads, omelets, and quiche. Sprinkle Rocky Mountain blend over steamed cauliflower or broccoli, or mix 2 tablespoons per cup of sour cream or yogurt for vegetable dip or potato dressing. This spice blend is very good over baked chicken, steaks or chops sauteed in butter. Hand mixed from: dehydrated Parmesan cheese, sweet green bell pepper powder, coarse flake salt, whole sesame and poppy seeds, shallots, arrowroot and green peppercorns.
SALAD ELEGANT This is our original cheese salad seasoning. Designed as a low-calorie salad sprinkle to substitute for salad dressing, we found this makes a nice creamy dressing for those not dieting, when mixed with sour cream. Of course, yogurt or mayonnaise and sour cream combinations all work nicely. Use about 2 tablespoons Salad Elegant per cup of a dairy product. It's very good sprinkled over baked chicken or fish, in sour cream for a potato dressing, over vegetables, scrambled eggs or omelets. Hand mixed from: Parmesan cheese, Hungarian sweet paprika, whole poppy & sesame seeds, salt, sweet red bell pepper, celery seed, granulated garlic, Tellicherry black pepper.
