Candied ginger makes a wonderful snack and is very good for the stomach.
Crystallized, or candied, ginger is simply young slices of gingerroot cooked in a cane sugar syrup. They have been eaten as candy since the time of Marco Polo! In the seventeenth century, the English would eat a few pieces of ginger after dinner, much like we now nibble on mint candies. In addition to its contrasts of sweet and sharp flavors, gingers aids the digestive process. Eat as is, or use in a variety of baked goods and desserts.
Try our new ginger nibs. They are nicely uniforn in size, at 1/4", which makes them ideal for baking and decorations. Add them to trail mix or granola. Virtually every recipe that calls for ground ginger can be enhanced by the addition of these nibs. Our ginger nibs are prepared from fresh ginger soaked in a sugar solution before being air-dried.
Once fire was discovered, the instinct for improvement made men bring food to it. First to dry it, then to put it on the coals to cook.
