Oregano, Fancy Greek

Oregano is one of the most popular flavors of all the herbs.

Used in Mediterranean and Southwestern cooking. Oregano was quite obscure in this country until after World War II. Returning GI's wanted their wives to make pizza, which they had grown so fond of overseas. Oregano was a key flavor note. This one dish actually caused the sales of oregano in this country to increase 5000%!

Greek oregano has a bright, sweet flavor which we associate with Italian-style cooking. Its clean lemony overtones blend well with Mediterranean dishes.

We didn't starve, but we didn't eat chicken unless we were sick, or the chicken was.
