Restaurant Pickup Guide
The Spice House is proud to supply our expertly-sourced spices to so many incredible restaurants, breweries, bakeries, and butchers across the country. We miss visiting their shops and restaurants, but there are still ways we can support them and enjoy their offerings. Below is a short list of our friends and partners near Chicago and Milwaukee who are offering their menu items for pickup and delivery.
While each operation has its own suggested pickup or delivery instructions, it is best to place orders and pay ahead of time. This minimizes contact and quickens the pickup process. When in doubt, call ahead or send them an email to confirm.
Hewn Bakery recommends you write your last name and order number on a piece of paper to show through the window. You can even pretend you are a limo driver picking someone up from the airport.
The Spice House is also open for pickup in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Evanston. Please place your order online and select Store Pickup as your shipping method. Chicagoland Area
A Central Street favorite, Backlot Coffee was founded just down the street from our Evanston location. If you’re close to their two locations in north Evanston or Old Irving Park in Chicago, you can order coffee and food for pickup from their cafe. Call ahead for their menu options and to place your order. You can also order their freshly roasted coffee beans online. Have you exhausted every recipe for dinner and every board game for afterwards? Chicago Board Game Cafe has you covered. Order from a diverse menu featuring dishes from smoked whitefish salad to chicken pozole. You can also purchase craft beer, wine, and fun do-it-yourself cocktail kits. Once you’ve selected your dinner options, you can select a new board game, comic book, or puzzle to keep you and the family entertained. Chicago Board Game Cafe is open for both delivery and pick up. For more than 50 years, Old Town’s Fireplace Inn has been serving Chicago-style baby back ribs slathered in their housemade barbecue sauce. You can now enjoy their American fare, craft beer, wine, and seltzers to go. Click here to place an order for curbside pickup—just down the block from our Wells Street shop!
To support their restaurant staff, The Fireplace Inn is also offering special Dining Bonds. Customers can purchase gift cards now and redeem them at a later date with a 25% discount. Visit The Fireplace Inn's website for more information.
Hewn Bread is famous for their rustic, natural breads, pastries, and freshly made sandwiches. Everything they bake is handmade from scratch, using stone-milled grains sourced locally in Illinois and Wisconsin. Visit Hewn Bakery's website to browse their pickup menu and to place a preorder. Please note, Hewn asks that you preorder 48 hours ahead of pickup time. Trust us, it is absolutely worth the wait.

Our online ordering system will be shut down beginning this Saturday, April 25th. The online store will re-open Wednesday, April 29th for Friday, May 1st pick ups.
You can now buy a six pack or even a half barrel of your favorite Evanstonian craft beer from the comfort of your car. Temperance Beer Company has pivoted their tap room operations into a convenient drive-thru. Visit their Facebook page for up-to-date drive-thru menu options, and pickup hours. The Fifty/50 Restaurant Group's three locations of Roots Handmade Pizza are open for delivery and curbside pickup. Order one of their signature Quad City-style pizzas, fresh salads, or keep it local with a Chicago hot dog. The Fifty/50 Restaurant Group is also donating free meals to those in need. Sometimes the aroma of a pie baking is just as good as eating a slice. Luckily for you, Hoosier Mama's Pie Company is offering a take-and-bake menu. Visit their Facebook page for pick-up hours and instructions. Then, head over to Hoosier Mama's website to place an order at either one of their Evanston or Chicago locations.
Greater Milwaukee Area
This butcher shop is a State Street standby for high quality, ethically raised and humanely slaughtered, antibiotic and hormone-free meats. Be sure to ask about what handmade sausages they have in their day-to-day menu. Visit Kettle Range Meat Co's website for menu options and call ahead to arrange curbside pickup. They are also offering same-day delivery throughout Greater Milwaukee if you cannot make it to the shop.
While The Bartolotta Restaurants have currently ceased operations, you can still show your support by purchasing a gift card to any of their restaurants. In addition, for those that find themselves in a position to give, you can donate to The Bartolotta Restaurants Employee Support Fund via GoFundMe. 100% of its funds will be donated to ensure that employees can endure the economic fallout of this virus by providing non-perishable food, cleaning, and hygiene items to its family of employees on an ongoing basis.
Missing Friday fish fry? Lowlands Group's latest restaurant, Buckatabon, is open for weekend curbside pickup, offering a selection of supperclub staples like fish fry, beef prime rib roast, and signature sides like creamed corn and mac & cheese. Check their Sunday brunch menu too, complete with bloody mary and mimosa packages. Click here to place your pre-order online.

Milwaukee’s first open-fire hearth restaurant now offers their flame-tickled dishes to go. Check Birch and Butcher's website for current menu offerings and to pre-order a dinner for curbside pickup. They offer family-sized take-and-bake dinners with directions included. They also have their famous cheeseburgers to go—cooked on a flat top right over their woodfire hearth.
Call our Old World 3rd Street neighbors for Cream City delicacies like a Usinger's sausage sampler, Bavarian soft pretzel, or beer battered cheese curds. They’re open from 11am - 11pm for takeout, curbside pickup, and delivery. Visit their website for menu options before calling in your order.
Pair your own pizza and growler of craft beer together. We are partial to an order of their curry fries with a Mosaic Pale Ale to wash it down. Good City Brewing has curbside pickup at their East Side taproom location. Click here to view the menu and place an order.

Anyone residing in Milwaukee’s north suburbs will be happy to know they can pick up authentic Middle Eastern cuisine in Thiensville. Visit Falafel Guys’ website to view their up-to-date menu options. Call ahead to place your order for curbside pickup.
In addition to their popular seafood and grill options, Crazy Water is running daily specials like beef Wellington and fresh lobster tail for curbside pickup. Check their website’s menu for today’s special before you call your order in.
