Shipping Info

Spices are fun. Shipping is complicated. Here is what we know...

Shipping Methods

We offer numerous shipping options that can be divided into three general categories:

Free Shipping (5-8 days)
Orders over $45 ship for free to US addresses. This takes 5-8 days via UPS SurePost®, an economy ground service. Free Shipping is selected automatically on orders of $45 or more. It is also listed as Economy Shipping in our shipping menu.

Paid Shipping (3-5 days)
We offer a variety of faster paid methods including USPS First-Class Mail (less than a pound), USPS Priority Mail, and UPS Ground. Prices and transit times vary by weight and distance. In general, paid shipping is affordable and takes 3-5 days. See below for more on that.

Premium Shipping (1-2 days)
If you need your spices quickly, then this is the way to go. Next business day delivery is possible, Monday-Friday, with USPS Express Mail, UPS Next Business Day, and UPS Next Business Saver. UPS Two Business Day is a more affordable premium option. Saturday delivery is possible with UPS Saturday Delivery for an additional charge of $16. Please make this request in the order notes. 

Santa's Holiday Note: If you need your spices by Christmas and you are using Free Shipping, then please order before December 16. After that, we recommend a Paid Shipping option. Check the UPS Year-End Holiday Schedule for UPS delivery specifics.

Overnight Delivery

Next business day delivery is possible, Monday-Friday, with USPS Express Mail, UPS Next Business Day, and UPS Next Business Day Saver. 

Processing and Delivery Time

We typically process orders in 24-48 hours, though this can take longer during peak periods. When Premium Shipping is ordered we guarantee same-day processing for orders received by noon Central time, Monday-Saturday.

There are good tools for estimating delivery time via Paid Shipping options including USPS Priority and UPS Ground. Just click those links and enter our zip code, which is 60076.

Delivery time for Free Shipping is harder to estimate. We use UPS SurePost®, which is a joint venture between UPS and the USPS. UPS collects the package from us, trucks it to your general neighborhood, and then hands it over to the Post Office for delivery to you. For many customers in urban areas, this is a fast and economical option. For some customers in rural areas or on the west coast, this can take a week or more.

International

We ship to Canada via USPS Priority Mail International and USPS Express Mail International. These options are expensive and not exactly fast. We process Canadian orders as quickly as possible to expedite delivery up north. We do not ship to any other countries.

APO and FPO

We are delighted to ship our spices to APO and FPO addresses, wherever they may be in the world. These orders tend to get priority handling.

Gift Orders

When shipping a gift, please enter the recipient’s address under Shipping Info. Once the shipping address is entered, please click the box to tell us it is a gift. You can type your gift message into the order and we will write it by hand using our stellar penmanship.

Store Pickup

If you live in the Chicago or Milwaukee areas, then store pickup may be good for you. Select this under Shipping Info. This is typically a same-day experience, but can take longer during the peak season. You will receive an email when your order is ready for pickup. If parking is a problem, please give us a call and we will run the order out to you.

Feedback

A week or so after you order, you will get an email from us asking how we did. If your spices are not amazing, then please let us know. If a jar broke, a bag came open, or an item is missing, then please say so. Pictures are especially helpful so we can learn from our mistakes.
