We are obsessed with this savory twist on a breakfast classic using our best-selling Lakeshore Shallot & Herb seasoning. This delicious recipe comes courtesy of our friend Jess Larson of Plays Well With Butter.

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Prepare the batter and soak the bread: In a large bowl or shallow rimmed dish, whisk the eggs, half and half, and Lakeshore Shallot & Herb seasoning until frothy and well combined. Add the sliced bread in a single layer and let soak 2-3 minutes per side, allowing the bread to absorb the savory egg mixture. Work in batches as needed so the bread soaks evenly without overlapping.
  2. Pan fry the French toast: Melt the butter in a medium nonstick skillet over medium heat. Shake off any excess batter from the soaked bread, then transfer to the skillet. Cook 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crisp around the edges. Work in batches as needed, adding a little more butter to the skillet between batches.
  3. Serve immediately, topped with a fried or poached egg if desired. For a full brunch, we love pairing savory French toast with crispy bacon and a light mixed greens salad. Enjoy!
