When we asked the meatloaf mavens, 'What's the secret to a delicious Midwestern meatloaf?' this seasoning was their answer. Use it on fried or baked chicken, hamburgers, steamed vegetables, steaks, ribs, chicken soup, pork roast, sandwiches, or eggs.
Use about 1 teaspoon per pound for meats, and 1 teaspoon per cup for soups or stews. This blend was previously called 'Old World Central Street Seasoning, Salt-Free.'
Customers appreciate this seasoning for its versatility and robust flavor, making it an excellent choice for a variety of dishes, from meats to vegetables. Many highlight its salt-free nature as a significant advantage, allowing for health-conscious cooking without compromising taste. It has become a staple in many kitchens.
I modified a recipe that I saw on America's Test Kitchen on PBS. I am addicted to Old World 3rd Street Salt Free Spice*, and use it in everything but cakes, pies and candies. *Old World 3rd Street ...
I use this seasoning for my beef pot roast. This is my go-to meal for folks who need meals (illness, pregnancy, etc) and everyone raves about it every time. I even had one guy mention people were getting ill just so I’d make the a lot roast. I’ve had numerous people ask me for the recipe, which is incredibly simple. I give them a link to the pot roast seasoning and when I follow up with them, they always say, “it was good, it just wasn’t like yours.” I immediately ask if they got the seasoning and they always say they just got something from the grocery store. I’m telling you, there is no substitute for this!
It actually was the Pot Roast Seasoning that I used and I was devastated when it was discontinued. It has become a tradition for my family to cook a pot roast on Christmas Day, using that seasoning as the key ingredient. Fortunately I learned the blend of Spice House Spices used to make the Pot Roast Seasoning, of which Central Street is the key (my wife called and they shared with her). I have a pot roast cooking in the crock pot now and when I pulled in the driveway from church I could literally smell it outside. It smells amazing!
I hope this seasoning is around for the rest of my life. I’m only 43, but I’d be devastated as the smell brings back so many fond memories of my family and folks I’ve encountered over the years. I hope to make many more memories in the future.
Trying to re-order today and see it’s “Out of Stock”. Hopefully it’ll be back soon!

Central Street Salt-free Seasoning
I have been using this seasoning for many years in all sorts of recipes! It is a staple in my kitchen. I love that it is salt-free. The flavor fills out the taste of eggs, meat dishes, and soups without dominating the dish.
