Jalapeño-Shallot Burgers

Jalapeño-Shallot Burgers
Hamburgers are an American institution, but how do you serve hamburgers that stand out from everyone else's backyard barbecue? Give them a little bit of surprise!

Submitted by: Mabel from Chicago, IL
Yield: 8

Ingredients

Preparation Instructions:

Mix all ingredients together. Shape into 8 or 16 patties.

When the grill (or broiler) is hot, grill (or broil) burgers until done.

More About This Recipe

Instead of laying cheese on the burger patties for cheeseburgers, try hiding it between two small patties and pressing the edges together so the cheese is completely enclosed. Rather than making burger patties, you can also press the mixture onto soaked bamboo skewers and grill as mini kebabs.

This recipe was a big hit. Definitely going to use this again. I chopped and sautéed the peppers and shallots then finished chopping them smaller before mixing them in. I used 1 pound 80/20 and 1 pound 93/7 beef. I topped it with a slice of Muenster cheese, thick cut bacon, some red onion and a leaf of butter lettuce. I actually forgot to buy the ginger so I’m interested to try it again with that added. This was an easy recipe to mix up and very flavorful. Thanks!
