Za'atar Flatbread
Nothing is better than warm flatbread, fresh out of the oven. Serve this with a table spread of feta cheese, hummus, and olives. Many grocery stores carry pre-made dough, commonly...
Za'atar spice is often mixed with olive oil and spread on bread. Some prefer to do this at the table, while others prefer to bake this mixture into the bread rounds. Za'atar also serves as a seasoning to sprinkle on vegetables, salads, meatballs or kebabs. Much like sausage seasonings, each country and family has a distinctive style of Za'atar. Our particular blend is Israeli in style. *Sumac is a member of the cashew family. Ingredients: Sumac (sumac, salt), sesame, thyme, marjoram, oregano.
I just received my Za'atar spice and used it with oven broiled veggies. Yum! This is my second multi-spice purchase from The Spice House. I have been very pleased with my purchases. The ordering and delivery process is easy, quick and probably the best environmentally sound approach to shipping I've seen in a long time. I live in a small ski town with decent, but limited, access to more exotic food products. The Spice House allows me to cook with things I normally have to drive an hour to find, or sometimes I just can't find it locally! Thank you, Spice House!
This is the first time I've purchased Za'atar and this blend is delicious. The spices are so pungent and aromatic. Definitely more intense than I was expecting. Wonderful quality.
Great flavor. I like how this Za'atar has sumac and hyssop and it not substituted with thyme like some other brands.
I am a fan of having as many varieties of spice blends on hand (never mind making my own)-- this Za'atar is essential to making my roasted egg plant with buttermilk sauce and pomegranate, just adds a little something special. My boyfriend (very curious one he is), thought it was garlic powder, lmfao... he has now found many other uses for it.
Should have bought 2 bottles. I've been putting this on anything I can since it arrived. I especially love it on eggs!
