A versatile butcher's rub rooted in Chicago's historic meatpacking district that enhances grilling, burgers, fish, and eggs with a flavorful, coarse spice mix.
If one flavor combination could represent The Spice House, it is this hard-working butcher's rub. Back of the Yards, our most popular blend, is ideal for grilling, great in burgers, and perfect with fish or eggs. It takes inspiration from the many immigrant cooking traditions that grew out of Chicago's historic meatpacking district.
Chipotle Garlic Barbecue Blend
A versatile seasoning blend that adds a sweet-spicy-smoky flavor to meats, beans, burgers, barbecue sauces, oven-roasted sweet potatoes, and homemade potato chips.
The word barbecue, though practically synonymous with American cooking, actually hails from Hispaniola. We added chipotle and Mexican oregano to our blend. Try our Chipotle Garlic Barbecue Blend on meats and beans to make your next barbecue more North American, in the widest sense of the term!
Kansas City Barbecue Rub
A flavorful spice blend inspired by Kansas City's barbecue tradition that enhances meats like chicken and pork, and can be used to create a quick homemade barbecue sauce by mixing with tomato-based condiments.
Since the early 1900s, Kansas City has rubbed its meat with spices, then slowly smoked pork, lamb, chicken or burnt ends over a variety of wood fuels, then served it up with a thick, tomatoey sauce. Put this Kansas City Barbecue Rub on dry, combine with tomato puree or ketchup to make a sauce, or add to Sloppy Joes.

Previously Named: Old Quebec Spice Rub
Bronzeville Southern Rib Rub
This spice blend, inspired by Southern migrants to Chicago's Bronzeville, enhances ribs, pork roasts, chicken, and duck with its tangy flavors, and can also create a spicy barbecue sauce when mixed with ketchup or tomato sauce.
We developed this rub to honor the Southerners who moved to Chicago in the 1920s, '30s, and '40s. Among the traditions they carried north was a tangy preparation for baby back ribs. Whether you crave ribs, a pork roast, chicken, or duck, this dry rub brings the flavor down home.
Brisket of Love Barbecue Rub
Sweet, tangy, and peppery, this blend is perfect for enhancing slow-smoked brisket and adds flavor to Shabbat dinners, corned beef, or homemade pastrami.
A Spice House manager created this sumptuous blend as a parting gift for guests at his barbecue-inspired wedding. It is sweet and tangy with a peppery bite, perfect for slow-smoked brisket. Use this blend to add some kick to your Shabbat dinner, corned beef, or homemade pastrami.
Louisiana Creole Blend
A Creole seasoning that combines paprika, onion, thyme, and mild pepper heat, ideal for enhancing dishes like crawfish étoufée, po-boys, roasted meats, and blackened fish while providing a Cajun twist to meals.
The Creole cuisine of New Orleans unites European, Caribbean, and African influences. West African okra in French bouillabaisse became gumbo. Spanish paella with Caribbean peppers became jambalaya. And none of these dishes would taste the same without Creole seasoning. Our Louisiana Creole Blend is as delicious in crawfish étoufée as it is sprinkled on a po-boy.
Jamaican Jerk Seasoning
A piquant blend of allspice and chile pepper rub perfect for authentic Jamaican-style marinated or sprinkled grilled meats like chicken, pork, and shrimp.
People visit Jamaica for the beaches, but they stay for the jerk. Jamaican Jerk Seasoning is the island's piquant allspice and chile pepper rub for chicken and pork. Jerking is the technique of poking small holes in meat to infuse it with the jerk flavor.
I bought this for our son-in-law for Father’s Day. He loves to cook and especially grill. He was very happy with his gift.

General review
We found this great spice house years ago on Wells street in Chicago across for the Bistro Margaux.
We have since patronized all of their locations and have been buying our spices from them exclusively. Now that were in FL, only wish we could visit them more !!
