Helpful Hints
Use fresh cinnamon to bring out the flavor, and try different kinds of cinnamon to vary the taste. The Chinese cinnamon is a good starting point, and Ceylon cinnamon is also fine. Saigon or Vietnamese cinnamon has a stronger taste, which I personally like. This can be a good recipe to prepare with children, since they can work as a team to measure the ingredients and assemble each portion. For vegan oatmeal, use beet sugar or evaporated cane sugar instead of brown sugar.
I will be trying this. I make a Chai Oatmeal with 1 bowl in the microwave.
1/2 c. quick oatmeal
1 c milk
raisins or any other dried fruit
Cinnamon to taste,
Ginger about 1/2 tsp.
Cardamon about 1/2 tsp
Add all together, in a microwave safe bowl. My microwave does it in 2 min. so check how fast your microwave works.
Once its done, I add about 1 tsp of brown sugar.
Enjoy!
I love this recipe! Instead of using boiling water I used 1% milk and Microwaved everything for 1 min! I also added just a little hint of butter! Nothing like waking up to a good bowl of Oatmeal on a bone chilling morning!
