Cardamom Seeds

Of all the world's spices, cardamom is perhaps the most difficult to describe. Flowery yet earthy, powerful yet delicate, cardamom has been used in Nordic pastries since the days of the Swedish East India Company. The fullest and most rounded flavor comes from dark, mature seeds. Use them in mulling spices or masala chai, or grind them into fresh powder. Cardamom is a popular flavor in Indian curries, Middle Eastern stews, and Scandinavian baking. These seeds come from green cardamom pods, but have been decorticated making them easy to grind with a spice mill or mortar and pestle. Since cardamom seeds lose flavor quickly once ground, many people prefer to buy whole cardamom seeds and grind only the amount needed for a recipe.

Cardamon seeds

Buying cardamon seeds in the flatpack is the best way to buy them. The seeds keep well and the flatpack is handy. You have probably tasted the wonderful flavor of cardamon in a Christmas stollen. It’s also great in Indian recipes,eg “butter chickenll” I made Norweigen boller rolls

which is a pretty simple yeast recipe and it turned out great The flatpacks are space saving they stand up so you can easily your measuring inside the flatpack

Great quality

I can no longer not think of a use for cardamom! Great to keep in the microplaner I also got from SH, grinding into chocolate recipes is awesome-- used with sweet potato chocolate cake and this made it!

Cardamon seeds flat pack

Wonderful flavor and aroma It’s that flavor that you get in the Christmas coffee cake. Also. can be used in Indian Butter Chicken For a real treat bake the Norwegian Boller recipe found on this site

The seeds will keep indefinitely, but please remember to grind them first before using

Cardamom is underrated

There is a spice that can morph a sweet treat into an addiction... a savory dish into nirvana... is it European? Is it Indian? What magic am I tasting? Oh, it’s cardamom!

Drink it in a chai tea latte, chow it down in a navritan korma, savor it in Oaxaca mole or indulge with in in great grandma’s savory bacon rolls. This is culinary witchcraft. Crack. God’s gift to earth.

Needless to say, this particular cardamom is fresh, strong and fragrant. Perfect to crush via mortar and pestle or herb grinder just before adding it to finalize that perfect dish. A little goes a long way, but you’ll be coming back for more!

Best secret ingredient

I have kept these on hand in my Kitchen in a grinder for more than a decade. It pairs well with both sweet and savory dishes and grinding as you go keeps the flavor completely fresh. So much easier than opening a bunch of pods and enables me to use it more frequently.
