Good, but not a favorite

I was excited about trying this spice mix. I tried it by itself on chicken and pork in various preparations. It is orange citrus forward, more so than I expected. I didn't find it well rounded so I tried combining it with other spices. I couldn't find a combo that balanced out the orange citrus. I noticed a number of the other reviewers using this Caribbean mix in combo with other spices. Perhaps I haven't found just the right mix. For my preferences, I won't be purchasing this mix again but that's not to say you won't love it. You'd just have to give it a try. PS: I LOVE Spice House though. The spices I've received have always been fresh and delivered quickly and well packaged. Thank you Spice House!

Caribbean Cinnamon Rolls?

My Caribbean Citrus Chile Rub arrived the day before I had a baking day. Two ingredients ended up in my Cinnamon Rolls - The Spice House Caribbean Citrus Chile Rub and fresh tomatoes from my daughter's OVER-abundant garden harvest. I've found that if you finely puree fresh tomatoes, they work great as the liquid for yeast raised products . . . as in my cinnamon rolls. I got to the stage where I 'smear' the rolled out surface of the dough with butter and spices. As usual, ALL my different cinnamons on hand got into the mix but I didn't have a lemon for the lemon gratings I put on the butter/spice/sugar mixture. I suddenly remember my new spice that had citrus in the mix so put in a hearty teaspoon into the 'smear', rolled up my dough, cut into rounds and baked. The scent was amazing and the hint of Chile in the filling made for a who new and possibly better cinnamon roll. They didn't last long. And the citrus aspect of the Caribbean rub came through loud and clear.
