With its potent, unique flavor, Whole Cumin is a crucial ingredient in many kinds of global cuisine. It’s essential in Indian curries, and is commonly roasted before being ground to give it a lovely nutty, toasted taste. The somewhat bitter, earthy flavor is crucial to good chili. Nearly all Mexican bean and meat recipes call for generous amounts of cumin (called "comino" in Mexican recipes), as do foods of various other Latin American countries. Several European countries use it to flavor their breads.

Review Summary

Customers love buying the seeds whole so they can toast, bloom, and grind them right before cooking, saying the aroma and flavor are far more vivid than pre-ground cumin. Many mention using it for curries, chili, chicken enchiladas, hummus, taco seasoning, aloo gobi, and other Indian, Turkish, Middle Eastern, and Latin American dishes.
I love to but the seeds, toast them, and grind as needed. You will not beat the quality at this price.

Whole cumin seeds are hard to find around here.
Cumin, like many or most spices, gives up lots of its flavor when it's ground and put in jars. It's best when ground just before it's used. Spice House has sold me mine for a couple decades, at least. We use it a lot. I stopped looking elsewhere way back.
