Details

Charnushka is a flavorful black seed typically used in Jewish rye bread and flatbreads, and also in certain savory pastries and cheeses. Charnushka is often mixed together with other seeds, such as mustard, fennel, cumin, and fenugreek, to create a blend popular in Bengali beans and veggie dishes known as panch phoron. Nigella sativa is commonly found as an ingredient in curry and garam masala recipes from India, where it is known as Kolonji. Ingredients: Charnushka seeds.

Brings back memories

My Grandmother use to make a Polish cheese bread when I was a kid, I tried to make it, but could never find the black seeds that she put on top, nor did I know what they were called. I’ve been asking people for years, nobody seemed to know what I was talking about. I came across a bakery in Chicago (now closed) that made a cheese bread, and had the seeds, and I asked them what they were, he told me, and about five or more years have gone, and I couldn’t remember exactly what they were called exactly.

I googled what I thought it was, I had no idea of the spelling, came across your website, found what I thought they were, ordered them, and low and behold, they were the same seeds that my Grandma used 50 years ago, I always remembered that taste! Thank you, and thank you for the fast free shipping too!

Wow

I used the charnushka seeds in my Pannis Quadratus sourdough boule. The taste was mild and delicious! A hearty loaf that goes incredibly well with a nice bowl of soup.

I used them with sesame seeds in Turkish flatbread called Ramazan Pidesi

They impart a subtle onion like flavor and were the perfect accompaniment for this very soft delicious bread.

good quality

Good quality and taste.

I grind them in a mortar and pestle and take with honey and vinegar as a supplement.
