Hot chili powder is easily confused with ground chile peppers. When a recipe calls for chile pepper, it means pure ground chiles. Hot chili powder, on the other hand, is a blend of ground chiles and other ingredients. This is the chili powder called for in recipes such as chili con carne, baked beans, Spanish rice, steak tacos, and enchilada sauce. This chili powder also makes a great rub for barbecue or grilled meats and veggies. Our flavorful chili powders are all salt free, mixed by hand, stirred over 1,500 times, and triple sifted. Ingredients: Chiles, paprika, cumin, garlic, oregano, silicon dioxide.

Your spices are such wonderful quality...every time! We also love that the come in a flat pack, rather than just one more bottle!
Being from Texas, I have been using chili powders for years but have never liked the smell - they all smelled dusty even after cooking. This chili powder smells fresh and packs a really flavorful punch. Highly recommend this product.
I recently refreshed all of the spices in my cupboard. When my husband saw me throw bottles of half used spices away he asked if I shouldn't use those first. I opened up the generic chili powder i was about to toss and the new one from the spice house and had him compare... no more questions! This chili powder has a complex and very rich aroma. I can pick out each of the ingredients by smell and the cumin is especially forward in the profile. It is hot enough for most dishes for most people, when I want something really spicy I will simply add fresh chilies, but then it is usually not suitable for company ;)
