Mulling Spices for Apple Cider and Wine

Aromatic and spicy, hot mulled wine or cider is the ultimate warming beverage in frigid weather. As the angel Clarence specifies in “It’s a Wonderful Life”, we mix this blend to be “heavy on the cinnamon, easy on the cloves,” with fragrant topnotes of mace and cardamom.

Mulled wine or cider is the perfect beverage for holiday parties and quiet evenings in. For those of us who are football fans in the frigid midwest, a thermos of mulled wine will warm you through better than anything else (and make you the envy of your seatmates).
To make a delicious mulled beverage, put these mulling spices for apple cider and wine in a teaball or muslin bag and simmer in water for 20 minutes to release the flavors. Discard the water, pour in the wine, cider or brandy, and gently heat. Remove mulling spices and serve piping hot. For a standard bottle of wine or brandy, use 1 tablespoon of spices; for cider, use 3 tablespoons per gallon.
Many of our customer love to use this blend to give their kitchens a festive scent for the holidays; keep a small handful of mulling spices simmering in a pan or crockpot for an aromatic treat.
Hand mixed from: cassia cinnamon bark, allspice, cloves, cassia buds, cardamom, and mace.
