De re coquinaria was one of the earliest cookbooks written, in the first century AD. Its Roman authors noted that recipes should use a heavy blend of Italian spices. To our mind, they surely meant this blend, a balanced mix of oregano, thyme, basil, marjoram and rosemary, all the herbs integral to Italian dishes both ancient and new.

A classic combination of lovely, sweet Greek oregano, basil, marjoram, thyme and crushed rosemary, evokes your favorite Italian trattoria and recipes. Mix 1 teaspoon of Italian herb blend into a cup of tomato sauce to make flavorful sauce for veal or eggplant Parmesan, or spaghetti. Doctor up store-bought pizza by sprinkling this dried Italian seasoning over the top before baking. Rub onto meat to season Italian-style roast chicken or fish. For a quick lunch, top plain boiled pasta with a splash of good olive oil, a grind of fresh pepper, and a generous sprinkle of Italian herbs. Ingredients: Oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary, marjoram.

Delicious

I love this stuff. It’s such a quick and easy way to add a nice depth of flavor to your meal. I toss it in soups, sauces, rub it on meats, use it in breading, use it as a topping, the options are endless! It’s very well balanced while being strong yet not overpowering.

an excellent blend

I grow these herbs in my garden and though I prefer using them fresh, this dried blend is almost an exact duplicate of my own mix of fresh herbs, when we are in the growing season. So what is "almost an exact duplicate?" Sometimes, when they are available fresh from my garden, I use the Lime Basil and Lemon Thyme variants, instead of Genovese and English. That is a personal preference in some dishes.

Otherwise, I would recommend this product to anyone. I use it in rubs, sauces, tomato gravies and even in making some bread doughs. I make a marvelous, brick baked, free standing, Italian style bread loaf with this blend added and with an additional twist of fresh ground black pepper. I like it also in other doughs, such as Focaccia, pizza dough, Pane Fiore, pita and naan. A small amount goes a long way in brightening the taste of fresh baked bread. Overall, I gave it five stars because I could not give it six.

Nice Italian Blend

This is a really nice Italian Blend. I have a sensitivity to too much oregano, and this spice from The Spice House is well balanced in flavor. Oh, and the new flatpacks are PERFECT! Flatpacks are abuot the same price as getting it from the store and far superior quality!
