Chipotle in Adobo Sauce

La Fonda El Refugio in Mexico City was beloved for serving the best classic Mexican cuisine. Among its simple dishes were enfrijoladas; tortillas dipped in black bean sauce topped with crumbled cheese. Their version was famous for the smoky heat chipotles in adobo gave it. Use these with or without sauce in Mexican dishes, stews and chili, or marinades.

Whole Morita chipotles are peeled and cooked before being canned in a rich sauce so they’re ready for use. These peppers can be added anywhere chipotle is called for and the sauce is great for dipping empanadas or taquitos into. Contains chipotle chiles, water, tomato paste, onion, sugar, and less that 2% salt, vinegar, sunflower seed oil, paprika, garlic, corn starch and spices.
