Merguez North African Seasoning

The traditional Berber recipe’s flavor was too good for sausage alone, so we captured it in a spice blend for grilled vegetables, hearty stews, simmering lentils, and anything else in need of North African flair. For authentic Merguez sausage, heavily spiced with cumin, garlic, and chiles, mix 3 tablespoons of spice per pound of ground meat. Read More

Not enamored of the formula change of this blend.

I've been shopping at The Spice House, starting in Milwaukee decades ago before my move to Chicago in 1972. My husband and I do almost all of our own cooking, so I order spices from you at lot. Merguez has been one of my favorite blends. But the major changes to the formula may take it off my future shopping list. The order of ingredients is different, with the salt now overbearing when it used to be subtle. The balance of flavors is totally different, and less pleasing and harmonious. Also, it's much heavier in the lemon flavor (which I have found to be true about many blends with lemon from you,) and it tastes fake. No cane sugar or lemon oil in the original. Very disappointed in this major change.

Nice change

A very pleasant and versatile addition to my repertoire. Use from sprinkle to curry-like application.

Excellent for red meats, stews

This hearty mix adds depth and complexity to red meat & stews, evoking the North African scents and smells as you enjoy your feast. Chilis, tomato and cumin dominate the aroma.

Sweet and spicy

Very good. A little sweeter than I expected. Super addition to stews

North African Mystery on the tip of your tongue!

Marvelous complexity! Marries well with vegetables, sauces and fish with meats of all kinds. Love
its use in stir fry dishes. Excellent bouquet when preparing vegetarian dishes and the savory touch to meats and fish dishes.
