Bicentennial Seasoning

Added to the product line in 1976 to commemorate America’s bicentennial anniversary. Since our forbearers typically cooked over the hearth, they used coarser spices, which allow a slower release of flavors over a longer amount of time.

Rub about 1 teaspoon per pound into large cuts of meat before roasting. Bicentennial seasoning remains the classic blend in the Penzey family for seasoning turkey for the holidays, and the smell of the spices and roasting turkey is as much a scent of Christmas as the pine Christmas tree.

Hunters also love this blend, as the coriander and orange pair nicely with the gaminess of venison and wild fowl.

Hand mixed from: flake salt, cracked Tellicherry black pepper, sugar, minced orange peel, coriander, and turmeric. Sodium content: 674.23 mg per teaspoon; 19.26% sodium
