Porcini powder is my new love for cooking. It underscores the flavor of any mushrooms I use, and lends real umami to eggs and soups. It was a bad autumn for pot-hunting, so I find this great fall-back even more useful this winter.
Yum. Just a little in anything creamy brings a woodsy element to the dish. Sprinkled on grocery store mushrooms adds a whole new flavor.
I needed mushroom powder for a rub recipe and wanted the real deal - no salt or other ingredients. This was perfect and the rubbed skirt steak was the hit of a big BBQ.
I added some to my wild rice stuffed peppers. It was great & added a nice nutty flavor to the rice.
